Born and raised in the beautiful city of San Diego CA, Ellen Zolezzi caught the acting ‘bug’ at a very early age. Her Grandfather Robert Sullivan was one of the original founders of the San Diego Civic Light Opera, also known as "Starlight", and some of her earliest memories are of going to see shows with her family in the spacious outdoor amphitheatre where the actors would have to freeze on stage every time a plane flew over to land 10 miles away at Lindbergh Field Airport. It was love at first sight. She began her tap and ballet classes at the age of three, but had to patiently wait until her 8th birthday to be old enough to enroll in one of the countries top children’s theatre programs, the San Diego Junior Theatre right around the corner from the famous Old Globe theatre in Balboa Park. In the 10 years Ellen spent in “J.T.” she performed, starred, and crewed, in over 30 productions of both mainstream musicals and new world premier works by local writers/composers. Her very first professional theatre job would be soon after her Junior Theatre enrollment when she booked the role of Jane in Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby, who was just beginning to play the role of Peter. Ellen went on to spend her summers performing professionally at theatres such as Starlight, the San Diego Repertory Theatre and The Lawrence Welk Resort Theatre. At the age of 12, Ellen auditioned and was accepted into the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, where she received both her diploma, and a concentrated training in singing, dancing, and acting by the finest teachers in the city of San Diego. After taking a year off to be the lead singer/dancer on two Holland America Cruise Ships, the MS Maasdam and the MS Rhyndam, she then went on to receive her BFA in theatre at The Boston Conservatory. Ellen now happily resides in New York City where she continues to enjoy her career on the stage, along with running her own Internet Business. “I thank God every day that I am able to live out the same dream I had when I was three. I love my life, and everyone in it!” |
